Tibetan culture: Momos

Momos – Tibetan dumplings – are the unofficial national dish of Tibet. These delicious parcels can be filled with all sorts of combinations of meat and vegetables.

Momo wrappers are made from a simple dough of flour and water rolled into small flat circles. A small spoonful of filling is placed in the centre and then the dough is pinched closed to seal. This is harder than it looks but even if they’re not perfect, your momos will still taste delicious!

Traditionally steamed, momos can also be cooked in a soup or fried to create a crispy finish and served with a spicy chilli sauce.
