We are looking for a new treasurer trustee for our Board (a voluntary position). As a treasurer, you will have significant professional experience working in a financial setting and be sympathetic to the operations of a charity. Your main duties will be to oversee the charity’s finances, ensure best practice is followed, to support the CEO in preparing budgets and financial reports, and to advise other trustees on financial matters. It would be useful if you were a qualified accountant, but the most important attribute is your knowledge and understanding of financial good practice.
As a trustee, you will be a custodian of our vision, mission and values. You will provide an external viewpoint to help us maximise our potential. Using your skills, experience and contacts, you will actively participate in the advancement and growth of the charity.

Background: Founded in 1959, Tibet Relief Fund is a well-established and dynamic charity that empowers Tibetans to build sustainable communities and better futures through education and innovative practical grassroots initiatives. We work closely with a number of partner organisations, mainly in India and Nepal, and run an active sponsorship programme.

Hours: Board meetings are generally held four times a year. In addition to the quarterly board meetings, there will be additional meetings and communication with the CEO. Sometimes, you will also be asked to help or advise on matters relating to your areas of expertise.
Term: Three years; for not more than two consecutive terms.
Salary: This position is voluntary, with no remuneration. Reasonable travel and other out of pocket expenses incurred whilst carrying out this role will be covered.
