Tenzin Jamphel – Tenzin is 15 years old and from Mundgod, India, where he lives with his mother and three siblings. Tenzin Namdak – Tenzin is 3 years old and due to start school in April 2021. Tenzin’s father ran a small stall selling laping (a cold mung bean Tibetan noodle dish) but due to a lack of income he was forced to close it. Tenzin’s mother weaves pangchens (traditional Tibetan aprons) but it’s not enough to support Tenzin through his education. Ngawang Losel – Ngawang is 15 years old. He is a bright teenager who looks up to his mother, Sherab. Alongside helping her with household chores, Ngawang works hard to achieve good grades, wanting to make his mother proud. Mrs Tashi Yangkyi – Mrs Yangkyi is 75 years old. After being forced to leave Tibet in 1959, Mrs Yangkyi sought refuge in India. She settled in Dharamsala and worked at a handicraft centre where she met and fell in love with her husband, whom she shares three children with. In later life Mrs Yangkyi and her husband worked as foster parents, supporting many Tibetan children in their community. She now lives at a care home along with her husband and requires support to look after her medical needs. Please sponsor Mrs Yangkyi today.

Mr Kalsang Amdo – At the age of just 9 years old Mr Amdo fled Tibet, leaving many of his friends and family behind. He joined the Indian army in 1971, where he served for fourteen years. After leaving the army he worked in various Tibetan restaurants. Now 70 Mr Amdo lives at a care home in Rajpur and needs support to help with his medical needs. Please sponsor Mr Amdo today and enable him to have the quality of life he so rightfully deserves.

Mr Gyalpo – Mr Gyalpo is 88 years old. He was born in Tibet in 1932 but fled to India in 1959 to escape the Chinese occupation of his homeland. He later joined the army and served for twenty years before being discharged on medical grounds. Mr Gyalpo then fostered many Tibetan children who had become separated from their families, but after his wife passed, he found himself struggling to cope. He now suffers from mental health issues. Mr Dhoka – Mr Dhoka escaped Tibet in 1959 after the Chinese invasion. Overcoming the odds, Mr Dhoka reached India where he settled in the state of Himachal Pradesh. He worked a handful of odd jobs before relocating to Chakrata, where he joined the local branch’s army. After serving for almost 24 years he retired in 1987. Following his wife’s death, and with no relatives to care for him, Mr Dhoka finds himself alone.
