We are proud to be the core funder of Tibetan Ability Centre, who work with the Tibetan community in India to support those with special needs. As part of their promotion of inclusive and accessible education, they work with 22 year old Sherab. Sherab has cerebal palsy and unfortunately can’t attend school in person because of specific accessibility needs.

Sherab
Thanks to your support, Sherab received specialised educational materials, including a new desk, plus upgrades to her wheelchair. With these simple but effective interventions we hope she can enjoy her studies and get the most out of her final year at school.
Recently, your donations meant we could also organise a special day out for Sherab.
“I lived each and every moment to the fullest, that day will be one of my best that I will always cherish. It was a completely different and new experience for me. The best moment was during the visit to Bir Billing Paragliding site. It was the first time that I was able to go inside the monastery, the monk was so generous to help me out with the team. I tried South Indian food which was really tasty and delicious. It gives me immense joy and love. Everyone was so supportive and helpful throughout the way.”

Tenzin Nyima, our Project Liaison Officer in India, accompanied Sherab and Tibetan Ability staff on the trip. He says: “The outing activities were planned to make Sherab feel happy and comfortable. I felt good being with them. It was wonderful.”
