Venerable Woeser – 1942
Venerable Woeser was born in the Lithang region of Tibet in 1942. Despite the Chinese occupation, Venerable Woeser remained in Tibet until 1983, when he managed to escape. Upon coming to India, he joined the Gaden Jangtse Monastery in Karnataka, where he had a monastic education, learning scriptures and leading prayers. Now a senior citizen with aging ailments, Venerable Woeser lives in the state of Uttarakhand, where he is now under the supervision and care of staff who look after his wellbeing. He currently shares a room with a fellow Tibetan and they are said to be close-knit friends. Please sponsor Venerable Woeser today so that he may live his remaining years in comfort.
