On the last weekend in July Tibet Relief Fund, along with Tibet Society, ventured off to the WOMAD festival. This was our fourth visit and it was great to again fly the Tibet flag at one of the biggest world music festivals in the calendar, to catch up with old friends, welcome new ones and chat about the situation in Tibet and about the amazing work we do. A hefty downpour on Saturday forced a hasty retreat and early close of play, but other than that we had the weather on our side and enjoyed a sunny weekend!
The wonderful Bopa dolls from Dolls4Tibet drew a lot of attention, as did the unique walnut shell danglies from Rogpa. With so much interest in our stand, we handed out lots of our recent issue of Tibet Matters that looks at the stories behind our merchandise and included articles of both those projects.
Our CEO, Philippa Carrick, who was at WOMAD helping man the stand, was delighted by this year’s response saying, “I always enjoy coming to WOMAD, it is a fantastic opportunity to personally thank supporters for all their work and talk about some of our great projects. I think this year has been the best ever with a lot of new connections made and new support given. Thank you to everyone who visited our stand you have directly helped Tibetans who supply us with such wonderful products.”
